| In traditional artist’s terms, with red, yellow, and blue the primary colors, colors on the opposite side of the color wheel are complementary to each other, or opposites in plain speech. However, in the computer world of hexidecimal RGB (Red Green Blue) colors, the opposites are not the same, because the primary colors are not the same. For instance, traditionally blue and yellow make green. In RGB, however, red and green make yellow, because green is one of the primaries, not yellow. And half as much green as red makes orange. Click on any of the linked colors above to see a chart of colors/hexidecimal RGB numbers of the color and its hexidecimal opposite.
