Sniper Training …with Airsoft?

The sniper has special abilities, training and equipment.

His job is to deliver discriminatory highly accurate rifle fire against enemy targets, which cannot be engaged successfully by the rifleman because of range, size, location, fleeting nature, or visibility.

The US Military and even USMC now include airsoft rifles in their sniper training programs.

Does that mean the US military is going soft?

Some reasons our Military is using airsoft guns :

1. Low Cost
   Using airsoft rifles and guns are less expensive than training with real guns and live ammo.

   3. Live ammunition cannot be chambered in an airsoft gun.
   4. Personal protective equipment for Airsoft is minimal.

Airsoft guns offers realism in operations with  real guns replicas, incredible accuracy, consistency, and durability.

Low safety costs make Airsoft guns practical because they are easy to transport to  the training location (less security for real weapons), the weapons are low maintenance and they carry low risk of injury.

The initial costs and continued costs for using Airsoft rifles for sniper training and combat training stay minimal because the equipment itself is not expensive and neither is the ammunition compared to live fire or blanks.

Maintenance on Airsoft weapons is fairly basic and also inexpensive compared ti live fire weapons.

The price of an airsoft gun that is suitable for military training is in the same price range as a paintball rifle (Paintball handguns are not available).

The ratio of airsoft guns is 1:1 and the weight of airsoft guns usually matches the weight of a real gun.
